Phase Equilibria of the Ti-Nb-Mn Ternary System at 1173K, 1273K and 1373K

Phase equilibria in the Ti-Nb-Mn ternary system at 1173K, 1273K and 1373K were studied through equilibrated alloy method by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), probe microanalysis (EPMA) X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. A new stable phase K was confirmed composition around Ti50Nb7Mn43. wide-range continuous solid solution (Ti,Nb)Mn2 with C14 Laves structure had been found these temperatures due to same structures of TiMn2 NbMn2 phases. The solubility Nb TiMn4, αTiMn βTiMn intermetallic compounds determined. Based on experimental results reasonable extrapolations, isothermal sections constructed.
